So it's the third week into my studio design process:) I had planned to blog everyday but time whisked me away..

This is my original collection I drew up, so pretty ♥. I have changed a few of the pieces slightly since then.

I have sourced all my fabrics locally which is wonderful since I didn't think I'd find the perfect fabrics so easily! I found a beautiful dreamy floral fabric it reminded me of bed sheets I had as a child ♥ I bought the rest of the roll and had them order in all they had from their other store.

Threads, threads, threads.

I decided to go with Rasant thread as it's the best quality thread you can get
Expensive but well worth it.

The colours are beautiful, it makes me so happy ♥

Hello, my name's Ashlee I'm a wonderful 22 year old girl studying in my second year of Fashion Design about to start my first real collection.

I never really knew what I wanted to do when I was younger I always thought I wanted to be an artist, first it was painting then photography yes they were lovely and all but so challenging I see now that my heart wasn't really in it and that is why I found it so hard and didn't take criticism well. Two and half years ago I was working in a shoe store bored out of my mind when I realised I wasn't happy and sure as pie didn't want to be doing this for the rest of my life so I sat down and wrote a list of things I loved doing and then went and found the closest thing to that - Fashion Design and Technology.

When I told my parents that this was what I wanted to do I got the talk " You know no one ever makes it in these types of careers", "It's a waste of time". I'm glad I went through with it two years later I feel like I've learn so much and will benefit from this new learnt knowledge greatly. So what if only a select few make it, why not me?

I think that if it's what you really want and you know it within yourself, everything will just fall into place. This has never felt more right in my life then anything. I love every aspect of it. The whole process from an idea till the end result. Not everyone doing this course does it to become a designer and have their own label there are very few in my class that actually want to do this. I mean when you finish this course you're well set to start up your own label you've learnt how to design, colour concepts, how to draw, paint, identify, test & manipulate textiles, pattern make, sew, source and network. Just some suggestions of other jobs you can do apart from having your own label design assistant, stylist, pattern maker, graphics artist, textiles and teaching.

The last two years have been hard and stressful especially because I've had to work as well as study full time and don't get any government benefits thank you to my wonderful boyfriend and parents for helping me along the way.

I've never believed in myself more then I do right now.
The way I see it is people are always going to need to wear clothes it's how we express ourselves we've been doing it for thousands of years whether we like believe it or not.

So please pour a cup of tea, stay, read, watch, learn and love as I express myself through my first collection

I apologise for my terrible writing skills I never listened in English I was always doing more important things like doodling & playing Neopets. It's okay though I'll make up for it with pretty pictures.

Patchwork cuteness!

One of my classes is manipulate fabrics - my favourite class! I've learnt so much already! We did patchwork the other day - I'm in love! If only I had the time to do it all the time which probably wont be for the next 10 years! I was talking to my pattern making teacher the other day and she said it took a good 5 years to become confident in what she was doing, that makes me feel alot better :D
